About us
Since its establishment in 1998, the School of Foreign Studies of NCWU has always adhered to the educational philosophy of "Rooting in Foreign Languages and Serving the Water Conservancy" and the motto of " Water Moisturizes the Life and Languages Bridges the World ". We are committed to cultivating outstanding new-liberal arts innovative talents, which can serve the water conservancy industry, with comprehensive development in morality, intelligence, physical fitness, aesthetics, and labor, and a basic orientation of serving the water conservancy industry.
There are 129 faculty members in our school, which includes 40 teachers with senior titles, 31 teachers with PhD degrees and 43 teachers with the experiences of overseas studies and training programs. Among them, one person was honored as the “Highly Cited Scholar” and selected as Elsevier's 2024 "Top 2% Global Scientists List". The languages we teach include English, Russian, French, Japanese, Spanish and Korean. Apart from teaching the public English to all the students in the university, we still have three bachelor’s degrees of English, Russian and Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Language, two professional master’s degrees of MTI and International Chinese Language Education and one academic master’s degree of Country and Area Studies.
Our school has advanced facilities and good conditions for teaching. Now, we have one cooperative education project, 32 multimedia language labs, one translation lab and one simultaneous interpretation lab. We have 1877 undergraduate students and 109 postgraduate students.
In recent years, our school has significant improvement in educational level and quality. The English major was approved as the national first-class constructive major in 2022.
