From May 12 to 23, the Chinese Dean Preservice Training of the Confucius Institute in 2025 (First Half), hosted by the Chinese International Education Foundation, was held in Sichuan Normal University, and attended by 67 incoming deans (including heads of independent Confucius classrooms) of 53 Chinese cooperative institutions of Confucius Institute worldwide. The incoming Chinese Dean Han Fule of the NCWU Confucius Institute also attended this training and passed the final examination successfully.
During this training, Chinese International Education Foundation invited a number of senior experts and scholars from famous universities including Communication University of China and Beihang University to give special lectures involving all aspects of Confucius Institute, including overall operation mechanism, teaching organization and management, cultural activity planning, AI technology application, mental health, etiquette in foreign affairs and brand image building, with focus on the job responsibilities of Chinese deans and the enhancement of core competence in duty performance. In addition, through thematic discussion, culture experience, field visit and other approaches and centered on the key areas such as “Chinese +” special program innovation, cooperation and communication between Chinese and foreign parties, risk control and emergency response, media response of Confucius Institute, this training mainly enhanced the incoming Chinese deans’ understanding and practice of Confucius Institute’s undertaking and dean position.
Han Fule, as the monitor of the Asian class, shared her experience and delivered a speech at the graduation ceremony, introducing the NCWU Confucius Institute and raising the specialized development plan of the Confucius Institute. Moreover, she highly identified with the arrangement of this training, and thought that the training not only enhanced the professional proficiency of incoming deans, but also enabled the participates to fully realize that Confucius Institute as the leading brand in the international Chinese education field played an important role in promoting the international transmission of Chinese language and fostering educational and cultural exchanges, and also further enhanced the pride and confidence to engage in the undertaking of Confucius Institute.
It is reported that the third Chinese work team of NCWU Confucius Institute would take up their positions successively from the second half of this year, and they would explore a path of higher quality, greater distinctiveness, higher vitality, more partners, and closer human connection for the construction of Confucius Institute, and further contribute NCWU’s strength to the education opening-up in Malaysia.
