From April 18 to 20, 2025, the “Explore Henan · Embrace Nanyang” Sino-Foreign Student Study Tour, organized by the Alliance of International Students in Henan Universities, was successfully held in Nanyang, a historical and cultural city of Henan Province. As the vice-director unit of the alliance, the School of International Education of NCWU actively contributed its wisdom and strength during the preparation and execution of the event and organized representatives of international students to deeply participate in the event, demonstrating NCWU’s sense of responsibility and achievements in the field of international education.
On the first day of the event, the opening ceremony was grandly held at Nanyang Medical College. Chaudhary Adward, an international student from Nepal, delivered a speech on behalf of all NCWU’s international students. He expressed his expectation to gain a deeper understanding of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) culture through this study tour and to bring the stories of Nanyang and the wisdom of TCM back to his home country and the world to show the inclusiveness and vitality of Chinese civilization, which embraces diversity while maintaining harmony. His sincere speech was met with enthusiastic applause from the audience, showcasing the positive integration of NCWU’s international students into Chinese culture.
During the three-day event, the team of international students from NCWU was fully engaged with great enthusiasm and explored the historical heritage and essence of TCM in Nanyang together with Chinese and foreign teachers and students from other universities of Henan Province. They visited the Science and Technology Museum of Traditional Chinese Medicine of Nanyang Medical College and observed traditional medical intangible cultural heritage skills, experienced TCM diagnosis and treatment as well as sachet making in the Nanyang Medical Sage Culture Park, and also learned Baduanjin (Eight Pieces of Brocade) and participated in moxibustion practice at Zhang Zhongjing Hospital, where they gained a deep understanding of the TCM concept of “preventive treatment of diseases.” In addition, at the closing ceremony, the international students from NCWU joined all participants to perform Baduanjin, interpreting the essence of TCM health preservation culture with uniform and well-coordinated movements. They all expressed that the event not only deepened their understanding of traditional Chinese culture but also enhanced their friendship with young people from various countries in Henan.
The School of International Education has always adhered to the educational philosophy of “telling Chinese stories and promoting mutual learning between civilizations.” In the future, relying on the Alliance of International Students in Henan Universities, the School of International Education will continue to innovate in international talent cultivation models and contribute more to the construction of the “Studying Abroad in Henan” brand and the international development of higher education.
