Major: Energy and Power Engineering (Hydro power engineering) (National first-class undergraduate major construction point, provincial comprehensive reform major and provincial characteristic major)
History: The major of Energy and Power Engineering (Hydro power engineering) of North China University of Water Resources and Electric Power was founded in 1958. It used to be one of the four major universities with hydrodynamics in China in the 1980s. With the change of the development situation of higher education in China, it has been renamed several times, the first as "power equipment major of hydropower station", then renamed as "water conservancy and hydropower power engineering", and now it is the energy and power engineering major (hydro power engineering). It adheres to the specialty development of water conservancy and hydropower power engineering. The major was awarded the Henan Provincial Comprehensive Reform Major in 2012, the Ministry of Education Excellence Program in 2013, the Henan Provincial first-class undergraduate major in 2019, and the National first-class undergraduate major in 2020. Power engineering and engineering thermophysics continue to be key disciplines in Henan Province.
Major Orientation: This major is committed to the development and technology of hydropower, clean energy and new energy, and aims to cultivate high-quality applied research talents with profound professional theoretical foundation who can engage in scientific research, engineering design, technology development, education, teaching and operation management in the field of energy and power.
Training objectives: It is to cultivate social needs, comprehensive development, with systematic basic theoretical knowledge, professional and technical knowledge, with strong engineering practice ability and independent learning ability, and with a sense of innovation and social responsibility, Applied senior engineering and management personnel who can be engaged in design and development, equipment manufacturing, installation and maintenance, operation management and scientific research in the field of energy and power engineering.
