
On the morning of July 21, the Opening Ceremony of the 2025 "Yellow River Culture Experience Summer Camp" of NCWU was held in Conference Room 4 of Longzihu Campus. More than 30 teachers and students from six countries, including the United Kingdom, Spain, France, Ireland, Singapore, and Mexico, gathered at NCWU to start a 10-day journey of language learning and cultural exchange. Responsible persons from relevant units such as the University Youth League Committee, International Office, School of International Education, School of Water Resources, School of Foreign Studies, New Era Water Governance Social Sciences Research Institute, and Physical Education Department attended the Opening Ceremony. The ceremony was hosted by Zhou Yantao, Deputy Dean of the School of International Education.
Li Shengji, Dean of the School of International Education, extended a welcome to the teachers and students of the summer camp and introduced Henan's unique status as an important birthplace of Chinese civilization and its profound cultural heritage. He pointed out that NCWU had long been committed to serving the national strategy of opening up, forming a distinctive international education pattern of "Chinese + Water Conservancy", "Chinese + Engineering", and "Chinese + Culture". With "Yellow River Culture" as the theme, this summer camp set five modules, including language learning, basic courses of water resources and electric power, cultural courses and experiences, thematic visits, and youth exchanges, striving to enable campers to understand the Yellow River and China through immersive experiences. He encouraged the campers to deeply perceive the Chinese culture with an open mind and enthusiastic exploration, and strive to become cultural envoys for enhancing understanding and friendship among the Chinese and foreign youth.

Sridevi Sharma, representative of the leading teachers, stated in her speech that standing at the birthplace of Chinese civilization and personally participating in such a rich and colorful cultural experience was a rare experience for the students in their lives. She thanked NCWU for its careful organization and thoughtful arrangements, praising that the summer camp would not only help students broaden their international horizons but also inspire more thinking about their future.
Subsequently, Guo Guihai, Secretary of the Party Committee of the School of International Education, awarded the summer camp flag to the camper representative Judicael Tans, marking the official launch of the summer camp.
Finally, the distinguished guests and all campers took a group photo in front of the Administration Building.
It is reported that this Yellow River Culture Experience Camp is an initiative of NCWU to implement the important proposal of "doubling the scale of European youth exchanges to China within 3 years". The curriculum design of the activity takes "Chinese + Water Conservancy" as the main line and highlights the characteristics of "Yellow River Culture". It is also a beneficial attempt for NCWU to explore the international summer school, demonstrating NCWU's latest school-running achievements and improving its international fame.
