
On the afternoon of October 28, 2025, President Eddy Moors of IHE Delft Institute for Water Education and his delegation visited North China University of Water Resources and Electric Power (NCWU) and attended a symposium. The symposium was held in Meeting Room 6 of the Comprehensive Experiment Building at Longzihu Campus. President Liu Junguo delivered a welcome speech, and Vice President Li Yanbin chaired the meeting. Representatives from the International Office, as well as the Schools of Water Conservancy, Civil Engineering and Transportation, Ecology and Environment, Water Resources, and the Yellow River Research Institute, participated in the discussion.
President Liu Junguo extended a warm welcome to President Eddy Moors and his delegation. He introduced NCWU's development history, educational characteristics, and significant achievements in internationalization in recent years, emphasizing that international education is a key pathway to empower the NCWU's "world-class" initiative. He expressed the hope that this symposium would serve as an opportunity to promote substantial progress in areas such as the joint establishment of international research and talent training bases, collaborative programs in Sino-foreign cooperative education, and the construction of international joint laboratories between the two institutions.

President Moors expressed his gratitude for the warm hospitality extended by NCWU. He noted the high alignment between the two institutions in terms of academic offerings and development philosophies, highlighting the immense potential for collaboration. He expressed his anticipation of strengthening knowledge co-creation and collaborative innovation in frontier areas such as water resources and ecological environments. Following this, Professor Zhou Yangxiao from IHE Delft Institute for Water Education provided a detailed introduction to the institute's curriculum system, teaching methodologies, and international cooperation experience.
The two sides engaged in discussions on international collaboration across disciplines including hydraulic engineering, water resource management, civil engineering, and ecological environments. After the meeting, the delegation visited NCWU's history museum and water culture museum.
As an international water education institution supported by UNESCO, IHE Delft Institute for Water Education has long been dedicated to higher education, research, and international cooperation in the global water and environmental sectors. It stands as one of the most influential educational and research institutions in the field of water resources worldwide. This symposium has laid a solid foundation for further deepening collaboration between the two institutions.
