Talents are the key to success. North China University of Water Resources and Electric Power is located in the Central Plains with a rich history and splendid culture. It is located in Zhengzhou, the capital of Henan Province, a national central city and an important national transportation hub. It has a JianghuaiCampus in Xinyang, a revolutionary old area with beautiful scenery. It is a university jointly built by the Ministry of Water Resources and the Henan Provincial Government with distinctive water conservancy features, complete disciplines, a long history of running schools, and profound accumulation of running schools. It has a first-class scientific research platform, complete resource conditions, open innovation ecology, beautiful campus environment, excellent living guarantee, and convenient transportation location. When the rivers are peaceful, the country is peaceful and the people are safe. 73 years ago, North China University of Water Resources and Electric Power was founded at the time when New China was in the process of rebuilding and starting all industries. It was rooted in the great practice of the Communist Party of China in governing and safeguarding the country and in developing water resources for the people. It was the first water conservancy university established by the Ministry of Water Resources in the early stage of the founding of New China. Over the past 73 years, NCWU has always been breathing and sharing the same fate with the Party and the country. It has always been committed to educating people for the Party and the country, and has always been subordinate to and served the overall situation of national strategic development and the overall situation of higher education development. It has moved four times in Beijing, Hebei and Henan without dispersing, kept the original intention of running schools with “water control and rejuvenation of the country” without changing, and carried the spirit of running schools with “love for water resources and self-improvement” without changing. It has been committed to the development of water resources and electric power in New China and has been growing with it. Mr. Wang Huzhen, the pioneer of modern water resources engineering technology in China and the President of the University for 19 years, is the first member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (Academician) and is known as the “father of China’s multi-arch dam”. The University has trained more than 500,000 senior professional and technical and management talents for the motherland, including three consecutive ministers of the Ministry of Water Resources, world-renowned science fiction writer Liu Cixin, and other outstanding alumni in various fields. There are 90,000 reservoirs, 40,000 rivers, 20,000 lakes, and the great practice and brilliant achievements of the new China’s water management, water conservation, water protection, such as great rivers in the south and north, the Yellow River, the lakes and the South-to-North Water Diversion. All those have engraved the footprints of the NCWU people’s struggle, and won the reputation of “where there is water, there are people from NCWU, and where there are people from NCWU, there are proud achievements”. Today’s NCWU has become an important base for the training of water resources talents, an important platform for water resources technology innovation, and an important support for the development of the water resources industry. It is marching towards a new journey of a first-class water resources and electric power university with confidence and pride.
The sun and the moon run continuously, and rivers run endlessly. In the new era and new journey, we shoulder the strong mission of harnessing water to rejuvenating the country, the full responsibility of education to serve the country, and the deep responsibility of science and technology to strengthen the country. We are thirstierfor talents than ever, and we are more conditioned to achieve talents than ever. With a broad mind, a sincere love for talents, the courage to use talents, the grace to accommodate talents, and the good recipe to gather talents, North China University of Water Resources and Electric Power sincerely hopes that outstanding talents at home and abroad will choose NCWU, enter NCWU, integrate into NCWU, and take root in NCWU, and join us in the hot practice of high-quality development in Henan and the university, and jointly draw a beautiful blueprint for the construction of “double world-class project” and build an innovation highland, share development opportunities, and jointly celebrate the times, and help China’s water conservancy modernization and the construction of a socialist modernization strengthen country with our striving efforts.
