School of Mathematics and Information Science is the only science college in NCWU. The college is well supported with 115 lecturers, there are 13 professors, 32 associate professors, and 39 Doctors. There is 1 National Candidate in ‘New Century Talents Project’, 1 Technological Talent in ‘555 Project’ in Henan Province, 1 Excellent Young Expert with Outstanding Contribution in Henan Province, 2 Excellent Young Teachers in the Backbone in Henan Province, and 4 Heads of Academic Technology in Henan Province.

The School of Mathematics and Information Science has currently set up 4 undergraduate disciplines: Mathematics and Applied Mathematics, Information and Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Statistics and one Class A Postgraduate Program: Mathematics. The school has a total number of 699 undergraduate students. The discipline of “Applied Mathematics” was entitled as a key discipline in Henan Province in 2008, the discipline of Basic Mathematics was listed as a key discipline in NCWU in 2011.

School of Mathematics and Information Science supports teaching and research with modern high-tech institutes: Public Mathematics Teaching and Research Unit, Information and Computer Science Teaching and Research Unit, Applied Mathematics Teaching and Research Unit, Statistics Teaching and Research Unit, Applied Statistics Teaching and Research Unit, Physics Teaching and Research Unit, Mathematics and Information Science Research Center, Mathematics Modeling Laboratory, Physics Laboratory, Data Analysis Research Institute, System Science Research Institute, Management Decision Making and Project Evaluation Research Institute, Mathematics and Physics Research Center, Reference Room, etc.

School of Mathematics and Information Science has published more than 700 academic papers in recent years, among which more than 300 are embodied by SCI, EI, ISTP. More than 20 academic monographs and textbooks have been published. The school has accomplishments more than 70 national, provincial and other key projects of science and technology, from which 16 projects are entrusted by the National Fund of Natural Science. In terms of the honors, the school has won 1 National Science Award from Ministry of Education in People’s Republic of China (PRC), 4 Technology Progress Award in Henan Province, 1 Development and Research Award in Henna Province, and 4 Teaching Achievement Awards. In July 2007, the school has successfully held the international conference of ‘Mathematics and Physics Advance Research’, making further efforts to broaden the academic influence both at home and from abroad.
