School of Law, formerly known as the Faculty of Law, was founded in 2004, which has three undergraduate disciplines, namely Discipline of Law, Administration Management and Social Security.
The objective of our Law program is to prepare and train high quality practical and professional graduates, adapting to the need of Social modernization, who should develop in social morality, intelligence and corporeity, acquire basic theory and knowledge of law as well as legal thinking pattern and practice. They are expected to analyze and solve problems and do management based on legal theories and methodologies. The core courses include Jurisprudence, Constitutional Jurisprudence, Administrative Law, Civil Law, Criminal Law, Civil Procedure Law, Criminal Procedure Law, Administrative Procedure Law, Economic Law, Labor Law, Company Law, Contract Law, Commercial Law, Legal History, International Law, Law of Environmental Protection, Water Law and Water Administration, Introduction to Water Culture, etc.
The program of Administrative Management, aims to nurture professional personnel knowledge of administration, management, politics and law, thus be competent to carry out management and research work in government offices, companies, public organizations, social groups and etc. The students mainly learn theories and knowledge of administration, politics, management and law as well as accept training of carrying on research in administration, analyzing public policies, social surveys and statistics, foreign language, official writing and office automation, possessing administrative management capacity and science research ability.
Catering to the development of Socialism and modernization, Labor and Social Security program prepares advanced professional graduates, who are qualified to work in governmental offices and companies or teach and research in the field of public administration. They are designed to master knowledge of management, economics, sociology, social security and market directed economy, and identify the history and present of domestic and international Labor and Social Security theories and practice. Furthermore, the policies and regulations of labor relationship, labor employment, social welfare and relief, social insurance and social entitle would be covered. Their professional excellence will be accompanied by grasping modern administration methods and skills, and surveying, analyzing, solving problems in this field.
There is a well-structured teaching staff constituted by 35 full-time teachers, chair professors and part-time professors in the School, which involves in extensive fields ranging from law theories, constitution and administration law, commercial law, economics law, water law, procedure law, administration management to labor and social security, five of them own a doctoral degree. There are 3 research institutes covering Water Law and Water Administration Teaching & Research Sections that of Law and Water Law and Water Administration Research institute.
The School has excellent teaching conditions. Simulation court can accommodate more than 200 people and abundant books and related resources are available for teaching and scientific research. The School has built several social practice bases with some law firms, courts and procuratorates to facilitate study, scientific research, teaching and social practice of the students.
Good learning environment has shaped the School. Currently, undergraduate students of the School have numbered 750, and the graduates in 2009 have totaled 195, among which 70 have chosen to take part in the master programs. The year of 2008 has seen the forth-grade students participating in the National Bar Examination for the first time. Passing rate of the students (20%) has been much higher than the state average level. Students of the school have organized various kinds of law promotion activities such as “12·4 National Law Publicity Day” and “3·15 Consumer Rights Day”, which has generated good effects.
By pursuing new ideas, innovating new knowledge, expanding new fields, attaching importance to both disciplinary knowledge and quality education, the School of Law is hoping to educate high level graduates in law and management, thus making contributions to legal system establishment and social development in China.
