  School of Environmental & Municipal Engineering, formerly known as Department of Environmental & Municipal Engineering, has 5 undergraduate disciplines including Water Supply and Drainage Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Architectural Environment and Equipment Engineering, Fire Protection Engineering, and Applied Chemistry. The school runs four master’s programs,namely, Environmental Engineering, Municipal Engineering, Heat and Gas Supply, and Ventilation and Air Conditioning Engineering. The discipline of Environmental Science & Engineering is ranked as Class-one Key Discipline at the provincial level, which has the qualification to recommend and enroll master’s degree candidates with exemption of entrance examinations. Presently, School of Environmental & Municipal Engineering has a total number of 1524 current students and 28 postgraduate students.

    

   School of Environmental & Municipal Engineering is well-staffed, the school laboratories are modern and well equipped. There are 74 formal employees, among whom 38 of the teachers enjoy high-ranking titles, 33 hold middle-ranking titles and 25 have Doctor’s degrees, constituting 51.4%,44.6% and 33.8% respectively of the total school faculty members. The Laboratory of Environmental Engineering has set up 5 professional laboratories, 1 Chemistry Basic Laboratory, 1 Micro-Biology Professional Basic Laboratory and 1 Engineering Monitoring Laboratory. The whole usable area of the school laboratories occupies nearly 2000 square meters. In terms of the equipment, the school laboratories are supported with about 1000 teaching and research equipment of various kinds, which cost a total number of more than 100 million Yuan.  

  

  School of Environmental & Municipal Engineering has attained an advanced level of scientific research. Every year, there is a group of research projects that can successfully get through the evaluation. A large number of the achievements have reached international advanced levels. The school has published a total number of 96 academic papers, from which 72 are core journals and A-level journals and 38 are embodied by SCI and EI. As to the projects, the school has hosted and undertaken 7 Vertical and Horizontal Scientific Research Projects, has earned 6 Granted State Patents, has got 8 scientific achievements that get through the Provincial Evaluation and have already reached the National Advanced Levels and has had 1 National Natural Foundation Project through Node Item Acceptance. The school has published 8 academic monographs and textbooks; and has attended international and national academic exchange activities 67 times.

  

  School of Environmental & Municipal Engineering has achieved great academic results. By the school’s active reinforcement of academic communication towards the related disciplines with the national institutes of higher learning, it has successively communicated and cooperated with specialized and professional experts in the field of Environmental & Municipal Engineering in Tsinghua University, University of Science and Technology of China, Harbin Institute of Technology, Tianjin University, etc. Based on the research of water contamination control and water purification technology, the school has initiated the research on theory and technology of solid waste pollution control; School of Environmental & Municipal Engineering has developed a total number of more than 70 postgraduate students in recent few years and the discipline of Environmental Science and Engineering has earned the honor as the Class A Discipline in Henan Province.

  

   School of Environmental & Municipal Engineering has been strengthened on the undergraduate teaching and received outstanding results many times in teaching competitions in NCWU. Teachers in the school pay attention to the study of teaching methods and means emphasize on the practical teaching and the school has bonded with a great amount of production and design companies in long-term partnership. Graduates of School of Environmental & Municipal Engineering are competent in the job market thanks to their high all-round qualities and strong hands-on skills; meanwhile, this wins favorable social reputation for the school.
