The School of Electrical Engineering has disciplines ranging from Thermal Power, Dynamic Engineering, Electrical Engineering and Automation, Automation Engineering to Electronic Science & Technology as well as Nuclear Engineering and Technology. The School also has a Power and Automation Laboratory Centre, which includes 6 comprehensive laboratories and 26 functional laboratories. The School is endowed with a devoted and innovative teaching team in good structure. There are over 80 teachers, among whom 29 enjoy the title of professor or associate professor, and twenty-four teachers have doctoral degrees. In addition, the School has one distinguished professor and 27 supervisors of postgraduate. Undergraduate students number more than 3000 and postgraduate students number over 150.
The Discipline of Thermal Power & Dynamic Engineering is ranked as Special Discipline in Henan Province, and disciplines of Water Resources and Electric Power as well as Fluid Machinery & Engineering are key programs at provincial level. The teaching team of Hydroelectric Power Engineering is selected as Henan Excellent Teaching Team. In addition, Pattern Recognition & Intelligent System is a key program of NCWU.
The School maintains two first-tier master-degree disciplines including Dynamic Engineering& Thermal Physics and Control Science & Engineering and both of them are provincial key subjects. There are two professional master programs as Dynamic Engineering and Control Engineering and eight second-tier master-degree programs including Water Resources & Electric Power and Agricultural Electricity & Automation.
The School is devoted to the integration of teaching, scientific research and technical production. Teaching staff in the School has undertaken 4 State Science & Technology Tackling Projects, 3 projects entrusted by the National Fund of Natural Science and 25 Science & Technology Tackling Projects at provincial or ministerial level and appraised 23 scientific research projects. With great efforts, the School has accumulated 1st class Prizes, 7 Second-class Prizes and 4 Third-class Prizes in Science Advancement at the Provincial and Ministry Level. Teachers of the School also have published nearly 20 academic monographs and teaching materials as well as more than 300 scientific dissertations. In addition, they achieved 3 National Invention Patents and 12 new and Practical Patents.
The students in the School of Electrical Engineering actively participate in various scientific and cultural activities such as National English Contest for College Students, College Students Career Planning Contest and College Students Scientific and Cultural Festival and make satisfying achievements. They are highly recognized by the employers with solid professional knowledge and comprehensive ability.
